Glitches?

So whenever I press on panel_1 or panel_2, or the lightswitch in the room the panels are for, a few other doors open for some reason, and every other room with any lights tied to a lightswitch will turn on. Why is this happening? I don't see any connection between these entities at all and it's bugging me because there are doors opening that lead nowhere for decoration and rooms with lights that aren't supposed to turn on ever. The part about the doors is weird because some doors and there panels turn on, when some doors don't yet the panel still turns on, and some don't do anything at all.

RE: Glitches?

There must be something connecting the panels to the doors. Without some more information to go on, that's really all I can offer.

It's confusing, I don't see any entity connecting them. It just happens for whatever reason?
Is there a way I can overview all of the connections in my map somehow? I could see what's going on from there. Either that or I could send my map files.

RE: Glitches?

Who should I send it to? You?
I don't want to have an open download for a zip file of it on this thread.

RE: Glitches?

Could you make a small dummy map then which replicates this issue? If you don't want the map publicly, you could send it to someone in a PM.

I don't exactly know how to make a dummy map, because I don't even know what the issue with this even is so I don't know how to make another one. But otherwise idk who to PM.

RE: Glitches?

When connecting the button to the door did you use * sign so it would also be connected to the button on the opposite side? fx like using ToiletDoor* so the the panel connects with both ToiletDoor and ToiletDoor_Panel_2, since both names start with ToiletDoor.

It's perfectly fine and recommended to do this, but if then you have a door named ToiletDoor_1 ToiletDoor_2 etc then those will be connected to the button as well, since they have ToiletDoor in start the name as well.

If the other doors were copypasted from the other one the names would be similar, so maybe this is it.

When you say that, do you mean similar as in the connection could mistake say "Door_1" for "Door_2"? Because if that's what you meant then I don't understand why the engine was made that way.

RE: Glitches?

What he means is that if you've used asterisks anywhere (this: *) then it might apply to more objects than intended depending on how your entities are named.
