SOMA crashes on the opening cinematic.

Hello!

I'm trying to play SOMA (on Steam) for the first time ever, but the game freezes and crashes a few seconds into the opening cinematic every time I want to start a new game. I uninstalled, re-downloaded and reinstalled the game a couple of times, but the problem persisted. I tried opening the game from the game directory as admin, both the Steam and the No-Steam version, but it didn't work either.

I'm on Windows 7 64bit, with an i7-4770, 16gb ram and a GTX 980 Ti (the drivers are up to date via the Nvidia program, the last one is from december 2018).

The hpl.log file (which shows several errors) is below.

Right click SOMA in steam, Properties, Local Files, Verify game data (or whatever that's called)

I verified the game files on Steam, but it didn't help. It said the game files were successfully verified, but the game still crashes at the same point and in the same way as before.

No, no error message. The cinematic just freezes (audio and video), the game window becomes "Not Responding" and one of two things happen: it closes to the desktop, or it stays like that until I close the game manually from the Task Manager.

(I forgot to mention in my first post that I also tried to start the game in fullscreen, windowed and borderless mode, as well as in different resolutions; the outcome was still the same.)

How are you starting the game? The log file doesnt look like it should
