Storage Explosives glitch (video included)

I'm at the part of the game where I need to fill the science cup (I can't remember exactly what the game calls it) with the two explosive substances in the storage room. At first I thought I was doing the wrong thing, but I've already looked up instructions on gamefaqs and even videos on youtube out of frustration, and it appears the game is just glitching out on me. When I try "using" the science thing on either stream of liquid, the game simply gives me a message stating that the item cannot be used this way. I've uploaded a video showing exactly what's happening:

For the record, the video conversion software I used turned the gamma way up during the encoding process. When I play the game it's much darker, I swear!

Wow, thanks. That actually worked, even though some of the variable names in my save file that needed to be replaced weren't quite the same as what was quoted in those instructions. Still, I tried it anyway and was able to complete the puzzle. Awesome!
