Thats weird that the launcher doesn't even show up. Do you have administrator privileges? Did you try to run the exe in steam/steamapps/common/amnesia the dark descent/ ?

Yes I have, and also in compatibility mode as well, but does the exact same thing. The processor is 64 bit, does that have any effect of it running also?

No... I have a 64 Bit CPU. Try disabling any antivirus you have.

I've done that already, and its not even setup to stop programs that have been installed.

Its AVG Free Edition, and it doesn't have any issues with other games that I run on this system.

Ok, after doing a bit of troubleshooting last night, I tried to remove local content and re-download the game through steam because of what was said in the thread about the launcher.log being blank. Upon downloading and running, the game actually went to the launch window and went to the main screen. I guess when I downloaded the game, it didn't download everything and the integrity check wouldn't get the files needed for the game to run. Anyways, thanks again to xiphirx and anyone else for the help, now I shall finally get to play the game now

Try check gamefiles with Steam defgrammer itself, whats its says? Or Verificating one.

-From the My Games tab, right-click on -game- and select Properties from the menu.
-Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
-Steam will verify the game cache files (GCF's) - this process may take several minutes.
-Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
-Restart Steam.
-Do it again.

"rename the ClientRegistry.blob and restart Steam."

Change Downloading Region:

On Windows

Start Steam
Go to Steam > Settings > Downloads tab
Under Download region, select a different but relatively close region.
Try launching or installing the game once more

On Windows

If the issue is isolated to a few Steam games, please exit from Steam and go to the Steamapps folder (default is C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps) and delete any listed .ncf files for the specific games. Once complete, please restart Steam to test the issue.

Source Google and this. Defrag your hard drive aswell.

Well redownload files again..Run as Admin that game.. Be creative.

I played the game but at one savegame it's don't work.When i click load on the last savegame,the game closed.If i start a new game it's work ..but if i load a savegame appear a error with ''could not load world file''
