I think this is pretty much always due to the fact that the poster is a little kid who. Either does not understand what makes a good and bad video, or they want people to think they are an adult so they add subtitles rather than voice so no one will hear their prepubescent voice...

I could be wrong, but thats my assumption. It's like those people who type in notepad to explain a tutorial rather than talk you through it.

I put those subtitles up there so that my friends who DON'T have the game would understand what's going on. MAYBE they didn't know that you can just hide in the closet. Hence the "hidey hole".

And what the hell difference does it make if they're subtitles or a voice over? You really just don't like reading? Now who's the little kid...

EDIT: And yes I am very much aware that my name here is "GraphicsKid"... but this is a reference to the fact that I got involved in visual effects and animation at a (relatively) young age... I'm 19 now...

I'm absolutely positive they're not complaining because they don't like reading, but instead were hoping for more subtle story-telling. If you remove the subtitles, would someone unfamiliar with the game not know why you would want to hide from a monster approaching? You can frame the situation by closing the door and waiting until the monstrosity outside starts breaking down the door to hide, or look around after closing the door, as though looking for somewhere to hide, before settling on the wardrobe.
Regarding the voice-acting comment, speech allows for inflection and voice-acting to carry what text cannot without lengthy expository framing, inappropriate and distracting in subtitles.
Finally, they're offering criticism because they like what you have done and want it to be even better, as good as it can be. They're not trying to offend you, but give suggestions.

My video has subs coz I'm not a native english speaker and I have horrible accent.

But if you says I'm just a little attention-whore-kid coz of subs - okay. Let's judge everyone using your personal social scheme. I believe it servers you well IRL.
