Solved: 8 Years, 9 Months ago Mouse cursor stays on screen

Running on a macbook pro.

When I launch the game the mouse cursor stays in the middle of the screen.

The ingame mouse icon moves no problem, but the macosx icon wont go away.

Different resolutions don't help the problem. Native 1920x1200 or lowest settings.

I altered the settings.cfg to allow windowed mode and the cursor will only go away after tabbing out of the program and back in... But playing in windowed mode is awful, no immersion and worse than playing with a cursor stuck in the middle of the screen.

Any ideas?

What version of Mac OS X are you running? Which MBP is it? (specifically what video card).

And do you have any other software installed that does anything with the mouse ?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Running 10.6.6, its the aluminium unibody macbook pro 5,2 which has Nvidia 9400M and 9600M GT graphics cards.

Am able to run other games fullscreen without a problem (Portal, Starcraft 2).

No other software running.

EDIT: Just realised a large omission on my part. The game is run through steam, and probably is a problem with their overlay/in game menu thing... Will let you know if I find anything on their side of things.

Ahh.. was going to ask you if this was a steam or non-steam version.. Though thus far I haven't run into issues with the overlay in steam.

Actually you can download the demo version of amnesia and try it, and that would test the "out of steam" scenario so you could definitively know if it's a steam issue.

You can also right click (ctrl-click) on amnesia in your steam library and choose properties and then uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" (which should disable the overlay) and see if the problem persists.

Unfortunately I can't download the demo. I'm overseas for the year and don't have the capacity for a 100MB+ download Sad

No luck with steam either. No information in their forums and removing ingame overlay doesn't help. Other steam games are fine.

Any other thoughts before I suffer the evil cursor throughout?

I have this issue as well in the Steam version. I'm downloading the demo right now.

Stats:
iMac 11,1 2.8 GHz quad-core i7 running OS 10.7 "Lion" latest
ATI Radeon HD 4850
12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD

This happens for Steam versions of Amnesia: The Dark Descent as well (and I should note that the original game I tried this on was Penumbra: Overture).

I've confirmed that this happens in the demo as well. I suspect that it's something to do with a new version of OS X... when I first got the game as part of the Humble Indie Bundle, I don't remember having this problem.

That is very strange. My guess is it is something "Lionish" causing the issue. Now were you demo versions the "steam" demo versions? or the non-steam demo versions?

Hopefully next week apple will actually announce a new mac pro refresh so I can get myself a new mac pro.. (Mine is most likely NOT lion compatible)

The demo version of Penumbra that I tried was not the Steam demo.

And it looks like a lot of new Macs coming at WWDC: http://www.macrumors.com/2012/06/06/alle...g-at-wwdc/
