People seem to be eager about our extinction more than anything else in the universe (except aliens, whom they wish to be violent and the bringers of our extinction). But this can be easily explained as boredom and the pathetically strong-held belief that they will survive the earth succumbing to a blazing inferno. Either through zombie survival smarts or faith in a sandal-wearing hippy, raising them into the sky.
