Can anyone help me with this

I enjoy Playing Overture .. , but I have a few problems .
And I don't really know how to fix them.

I have a 9600 256mb ATI card.. I applied the 1.3 patch nothing was wrong texture was fixed...kinda.
Then after the first enemy dog I started having problems.
First off when I encounter an enemy .. and comes near me the thing attacks me ... and the game kinda freezes on me for 2 or 4 seconds I can't do anything but still animal attacks I get hit. I try to hit back lucky I can kill dogs .. but I have problems with spiders. Can anybody tell me how to fix this lagg issue it's been getting on my nerve lately .. and yes I did screw around with graphic settings .. didn't work.
The game doesn't even lagg when an enemy runs around only when it
tries to attack me .

Second is kinda weird one.
I still have some texture problems.. for instance when I load the game , the textures are different coloured .. or the entire surface of the floor is glowing green when I use the green light.
This is not a big issue since I just re-load and it disappears.
I just thought you guys should know about this problem.

I really wish to know how to solve my first problem.

Btw this game is really cool
