(im not too good with win7)
just shooting in the dark but, i noticed that there were alot of error messages dealing with light. could this be the issue?

Nope, that isn't the issue. To check what drivers you have, click the Start orb, type in on the Search button "dxdiag" and click on what the search results are. Click on Display.
