If I recall correctly the audio and video part of Karmic has had major changes, the Intel driver architecture has been rewritten from scratch. The X3100 is not a supported graphics card, it works but the requirements are nvidia/ati. By the sound of it they have some work to do with the new drivers, so it will probably be solved after a few updates to the system.
