You will lose the particles.


But let's just get it to a working state. (Your particles should not be such a big deal to re-create since you should already have one you can work off of. So it will be just a lot of copying X/Y/Z coordinates.)


Can you get a clean working copy, that will not crash the Editor or Game but at the worst be missing it's texture?
If you can get to that state, you should be able to ONLY modify the *.mat file, without deleting/generating a new *.ent file, and you should be set to go.
