I'm also having this exact same issue.

Arch Linux x64
GTX 560 TI driver version 355.11-2

I've tried verifying game cache and I'm currently redownloading the game, but I doubt that will help.

Disabling the Steam runtime and playing around with the graphics settings didn't help either.

Hope this gets fixed soon, I'm hooked at the moment.
