Failed to load config file

i just purchased this game last night and played through until the part where i need to get passed the door but the poison is blocking the path, i was a little confused so i saved and quit and looked up how to get passed this area.

i saved and quit because when i Alt - tabbed the mouse would stick to the top left of the screen and i couldnt move it. so whenever i wanted to take a break from the game last night i would have to completely shut the game down, which was no problem at all. except when i tried to reboot the game i got the error "Failed to load config file" ive been searching for a way to fix it all morning and have had no luck.

i tried re-installing the game and putting my saves in another folder so i could continue and i got the same error message. tried rebooting my system, checked to see if the game was running in my processes and still no luck at all!


i cant seem to find a fix, not even searching google or this forum.

so if anyone could PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me fix this ASAP i would love to finish this lovely game.
