You don't need to apply any patch for the steam release.. Steam has the latest version..

Can you post the error log (Stack trace from the apple crash detector)?? that would be extremely helpful. Also posting a save game file would be useful too. (in Library/Preferences/Frictional Games/Penumbra/Requiem)
