Solved: 8 Years, 7 Months ago Candle/Torch light problem

Man I can't catch a break with this game, even after I update my driver and finally get it working there's one thing that's killing the immersion for me.

For some reason whenever I'm not facing a candle or torch the light emitting from them cuts out. To be clear, when there's a candle on my screen the room I'm in is lit up, but when I turn around the light disappears, leaving me in pitch black.

I've tried updating my driver again and tweaking the graphics options, and so far nothing has worked. It's not the worst problem in the world but it's a constant reminder that I'm in a game, I find that it really breaks the atmosphere.

Can anybody help me, or is anyone experiencing the same problem?

Oh, btw my computer's a 32 bit Windowns XP and my graphics card's an ATI Radeon 3870.
