Black graphics, odd flickering random objects

Funny, I was just coming to post that I had tried the omega drivers. No dice.

So I also went to the Nvidia archived drivers and installed the second-newest drivers using the mobility modder. The modder tool worked fine and installed the new drivers with no problem. The game still doesn't work though. I can't quite figure out why the mobility modder isn't working for the newest drivers. They're pretty new, so maybe the modder tool just needs updating? (I posted about my problem in the hardwareheaven forums and have almost 300 views and 0 responses)

Here's the thing though--the newest drivers weren't released until October 25, 2010, after the release of Amnesia. Wouldn't the game at least be compatible with the drivers existing at the time it was released?

Quick question: I've been modding the notebook drivers and trying to install them. Should I be modding the desktop drivers? The problem is that there IS NO desktop driver for my graphics card. I have the nvidia geforce 8400m GT. On Nvidia's website, there is no 8400 GT. There is 8400, 8400 GS, and 8400 SE. Would any of those drivers + the mod tool work for my system?

I'm not spectacular with computers but have a decent amount of knowledge and can follow freakin' instructions. So if anybody has any ideas on the above I'd be very grateful. The game comes with high recommendations from my brother and I am really hoping to make it work.
