Stuck near sloped cyllinders in [Requiem]

So in Requiem I'm stuck at the sloped cyllinders room. I've turned the gears on, and rolled the glowing ball to the cyllinder room but it's just lying there. Pulling the lever that controls them doesn't seem to do much to it. Any hints on what should be done?

You can push the levers both up and down for different actions.
