Problem: "Could not load main init file: config/main_init.cfg"

kataare, Can you try going into your "~/Library/Application Support/Frictional Games/Amnesia/Main" folder and look at the sizes of the .cfg files contained there.

If any of them are 0 bytes.. Please delete them and see if that fixes the issue. Last resort is to simply rename the entire Main folder to Main.bak and try running the game again. (You can copy your saved games from within your profile over so you don't lose your progress if it fixes the issue)

I've also been having this problem, but I am running an internal graphics driver... I've been able to get to the launch screen and even setting all the options to "low", when I hit launch game, the screen goes black as it starts to initialize, and then crashes. The box asking whether I'd like to relaunch appears, and when I hit that, I get an error message telling me: "Could not load main init file: config/main_init.cfg"

I've tried all the renaming file fixes to no avail, multiple re-installations and installed the latest patch. :[ It may be that my computer simply cant handle it, but that isn't what I seem to be seeing at least in the way of this specific error. I have 9 gigs of space left, so thats not it...
I read above that you are working on a patch for this?
Also I did try booting it through terminal, but as i'm able to get to the launcher without problem it's gotta be a problem with the actual application support files or something.

Also, just to re-ask for katabare; Urkle, do you know how long said patch might take until those of us who are having this issue are able to play? *I don't mean to sound pushy, just curious!
I have another friend who plays and I dearly want to experience the raw terror he goes through while playing this game.
