Cannot load the game

Make sure you update the audio drivers for the audio card to the latest. But if you were able to run the penumbra overture demo this should not be needed.

Go to My Documents/Penumbra Overture/Episode1 and delete the settings.cfg file, run the game again and see if that works. If not search the settings.cfg file for the a sound setting that is, I think, UseHardware or something like that and set it to true if it is false.
