As Jens also said, this is a problem with your soundcard and its drivers. And yeah OpenAL can be very messy at times. I am not sure what you can do really though, I need to speak to Luis who made the sound lib and discuss what can be done. The same error has been reported by other people and I will try to get it fixed as soon as possible.

In the mean time, check drivers, switch sound card and update its drivers, etc. Also chekc this the forum every now and then as we will hopefully make some kind of test app soon.
