Amnesia.exe has stopped working

yea i know, i was just trying something new to see if maybe it would work. After reinstalling steam and amnesia i still get the same problem. And after running the game through steam like i've been doing my folder in user/documents/amnesia/main still doesnt create an HPL.log file. At this point i really dont know what i can do. I get to the launcher screen and when i hit launch game this same issue keeps happening.
