Open Finder and Navigate to SOMA's installation directory. From memory, I believe it is ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/SOMA/

Check the /entities and /static_objects folders for a folder called "undergrowth", and rename "undergrowth" to "_undergrowth" so the game fails to load the assets which are causing you problems.

The images seem to be broken now, but this page had the same issues you were experiencing.
