Minimum is X1000 series, but a 9600 can work if you tinker with the settings and fine a good driver combination. I think using Windows in combination with a 9600 is the most difficult to get working correctly, while on the Mac it should work out of the box and for Linux I think it is only a matter of running with the proprietary driver.
