Do people think Outlast is a scarier experience than Amnesia?

In some ways it is. It's certainly more intense.

I would say Amnesia was a scarier game overall, because it kept a better tempo and didn't overdo it with the amount of bad guy encounters, but Outlast did have the 2 most 'edge of your seat/disturbing' moments/levels/areas I've ever experienced in a game. For those who have played the game I'm referring to the flooded sewer level/area (which was actually very similar to the Choir in DD), and then the theater/chapel area towards the end. That's a pretty remarkable feat for a 4 hour $20 game.

The game is essentially Doom 3 meets Fear meets pseudo-Amnesia, without being tacky.

I'd give Outlast 8.5/10, while I would give Amnesia a 9/10 because it was more original and the story was better and more coherent.
