Disabled Steam overlay, went to start the game and it crashed to a gray screen. Had to end the process to get out of it.

Try updating your drivers.

I would update my drivers, but the current driver for my card is faulty and it's killing the cards if you use them, and videos crash my computer, forcing a hard restart.
