Hi there,

i have 2 problems with the latest penumbra version.

1)
If i have a fresh install, start the game, press F5 (quickload)
the game will crash immediately Tongue of course there are no savegames ... at all

2)
if i touch any artefact (i.e. office) the game crashs as well
here is the hpl.log and the "ulimit -c unlimited -> ./penumbra -> gdb ./penumbra.bin core.*" stuff

running gentoo, perfect configured :-)

I had a lot of problems with various crashes until I went into the settings.cfg and turned threading to false (it was somewhere near the sound settings) after which all of my issues magically cleared up

Can you check the file permissions of the ~/.frictionalgames directory and subdirectories? Make sure they are owned by current user.

You backtrace wasn't there.. you need to run
thread apply all bt

After you startup gdb on the core file. Then give me the output of the thread apply... command.

Also, did the game "hang"(stop responding until your killed it manually) or "crash" (kill itself by it's own accord)

this has nothing to do with user rights!

please just try this:

- rename or delete your ~/.frictionalgames folder
- start penumbra
- start a new game and wait until your ready to interact on the ship
- press now "F5" and the game will crash

if someone else could confirm that, would be nice. or a official statemet
like: yes it's a bug!

UseThreading="false" that prevent crashing the game by touching artefacts

well just found something little. under settings -> game
you add that option "crosshair". but the mouse-move-over tip entry is missing in the the English.lang
