			| Using Blender 2.5 or 2.6 to make models

				Hey ya'll!
I'm just curious to know if anyone has managed to create a working collada export from Blender 2.5 or 2.6 and got it up and running in the model viewer?

It used to work fine with the old Blender, as according to this might fine wiki article http://wiki.frictionalgames.com/hpl2/thi...3d/blender but I have been unsuccessful to get anything that works out of the new Blender releases.

So currently trying to pinpoint if either A: We need to fix our collada support, or B: Blender export needs to be fixed.

Any info is much appreciated!

I don't use Blender much and not I'm sure if this is helpful?
But are you asking that if you can make a model > texture it > then export it with a texture to the model viewer > and then get it to function properly in Amensia?

I made the crappiest cup as a test, and I got that to work in 2.59 Blender.

Yes, just getting it to work in model viewer is enough, it does not have to work in amnesia. Only using the default box, adding a texture to it and exporting to collada would suffice.

So if you could do a step by step walkthrough of how you did it that would be great!

Are you sure it was 2.59 and not 2.49?

Every single entity and object shown here has been made in either Blender 2.57, 2.59 or 2.6: http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-10227.html
I do feel the support for Blender COLLADA needs to be fixed in Amnesia itself to compensate for the way Blender does things. Blender COLLADA support has improved greatly since 2.57. I have examined both Blender 2.6 and Maya (2011) entities and there is literally very little difference between the two, to the point of claiming insignificant difference. Yet, armatures made in Blender fail anyway.

I'm sure i provided everything in the Wiki to make an entity and static object work, though armatures are still faulty, but i don't feel is entirely Blender's fault for armatures.

Can you update the old step by step guide with a new one that works in blender 2.5+? Because following the old I made and taking into account the new info I can't get a model to load properly, so I must be missing something obvious and if I don't solve it not much can be done about improving the support | |

This is something totally off-topic, but would frictional consider using a "user-made" model? Selected through some sort of voting in a "competition thread"? No money involved, just fanwork. Could prove PR for your new game & inspire the existing modelers to bring out their (non-professional?) A-game.

Lol I would so be in for that =] Making new monsters for my campaign anyway, so I guess mine would already be done before-hand. =\
