I worked on this for a while before i gave up, and i have some kind of idea that it might be the audio file wasn't originally meant to use Surround sound...
It may be a far shot, but if you want, you can go into an audio editing that might have a multi track system(FL Studio, Cubase or maybe even Audacity[although im not sure]) and try to Duplicate the sound, but make one of them Completely Right and the other one Completely Left. i might give it a quick shot in a minute and post back...
