Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs Discussion Topic Part 1

Fans of Amnesia might be concerned that with a new developer steering the
sequel, the game might lose some of the elements that made the original game so
disturbing. But Pinchbeck promises that they are not holding back in crafting a
truly bloodcurdling experience.

“Let’s just say that it's not going to be
a nice, simple horror game that lets the player get away with some easy cheap
thrills,” he says. “If you are going to do horror, you should be ready for the
full darkness the heart can withstand. We're not making a game you can play and
walk away from easily. This is dark, dark stuff."

Now that's what I like to hear!

Also I don't think they are buttering it up. Amnesia was the product of a development team which had lots of financial problems, not a lot of time, and kinda thrown together as a last ditch effort to see if Frictional would have enough success to exist (just go look at the blog post on it) and yet they made an amazing horror game. There were absolutely ways in which the horror could be pushed, and a team with lots of really good designers with really good ideas could really push them. I think it will be horror pushed beyond the point developers have been willing to go, and I believe it will be much more stressful and hard to play than Amnesia. But what the hell do I know, I've only heard things about it. But Dan doesn't seem like the kinda guy who's into shameless self promotion to me, I think he's being honest. If all goes as well as he says I will most likely not be able to finish this game
