Jump scares does NOT make your story good.

Why not actually try make a good story instead of putting loads of jump scares?

I completely agree (but sometimes a few of them don't hurt, and there are also some silly little maps just for lols with a bunch of jump scares that I find entertaining)

I will review all of your custom stories (when I find time!)!

Jumpscares are fine, IF THEY MAKE SENSE. Teleporting naked guys, DON'T.

There has already been alot of commersion about this subject. A few people have been looking forward for 2 different sections of Custom Stories--a stand-alone section for the more story-oriented custom stories, and a section for the unserious (jumpscare) custom stories.
I think it also shows the average interest of people. People tend to play a short, scary story than fully imerge themselves in a very well made story.

And let's be honest, people nowadays want recognision, which means they have to release custom story after custom story (Some of them which are absolute garbo.)

appearing things, arent cool. jumpscares, such as.. lets say, a falling rock from a broken ceiling, is ok.

there are other examples of good jumpscares which actually makes sense; but on the top of my head i cant think of em.

I love jumpscares. I don't know why people hate them so much, but the random ones like mine are ridiculous. I have random disappearing brutes out of closets and s**t.

I agree with you people here, jumpscares does not make the custom story good. They can make it better if they, like Traggey said, make sense. I don´t think people should avoid using jumpscares, they should change how they use them. There´s a simple model used by gamedevelopers, moviemakers, writers etc. you start up the story: introduce characters, plot, goals etc. From there you intensify the game, making it more and more exiting, everything leading to some sort of climax where it all escalates. Here is the perfect place to use jumpscares. After the climax, you tail off the game and finish the story. You don´t have to use this model but it is easy to use and it is very helpful. An example of where it is used: Every bloody level in Call of Duty Wink

I would rather play a CS that I can get in to with an appealing story and scary atmosphere. Just like TDD it had creepy atmosphere and good scares. And the few jumpscares they had were perfectly placed
