My custom enemy does not attack, why is that?

i've made a costum model for an enemy,

when it sees the player he runs to him, but does not attack nor pursue the player after reaching player.
after it stops it does nothing, just simply stands there.

what can i do to solve this?

thank you in advance

Do you have an attack animation set up? Without it, it will not attack.

is there any way to bypass that? by script?
i thought about having a script that has to do with monster colliding with player, but it just feels unnatural and its not what i really want

You have to have an animation, just like Statyk said.

I believe you use the animation tab and at the bottom will be the frames.
First frame you don't change you just press S to set it and then click the next frame or next few frames if your lazy and move the model then press S

It's fun and quite simple once you get the hang of it. Just a bit time-consuming to get the animation nice. Especially looping ones like the walk animations.

Especially looping ones like the walk animations. well, i've created animations on the past for short videos in 3Ds max. not maya though. once i have some time on my hands i'll try add some animations, not my ultimate goal though, the enemies i have in my custom story do not have to attack the player. not using zombies
