RE: Need opinion
The monster is the closest thing Amnesia has to "the thing out to get you". If you have him help the player, he'll lose his role, and won't be as scary anymore. Don't put it in.

Theirs been 1 or more odd CS that have used it (Can't remember the names, saw Cry play them) and they seem to work just fine.
I've met grunts about 10,000 times. I think its time for a change of sterotypes that all Grunts are evil.

Maybe you (datguy) could have the one who helps you be the penumbra monster, since he seems sort of human-like and would stand out compared to the other monsters. Or is it necessary for the story that it be a grunt/brute/suitor?
Either way, if you're gonna do it, make sure you execute it well, preferably in a unique way. If it feels tired and worn out to you, it will probably feel the same to the player.

well as you proggress through the story you hear about that grunt several times from gaurds note/letters so its not like out of nowhere he is there to help. i think it fits in fine i was just a little unsure

RE: Need opinion
Go with your instincts. It honestly doesn't matter if people like it or not, if you create something original than there is no reason for it not to exist. There are plenty of ways something like what you described can be easily integrated into a story and still be effective, but someone who does not know the entire story and the premise of your idea or how it is being presented can not really give you a good answer to the question you present. Ultimately, you are the only one qualified enough to make a decision about what does or does not go into your custom story.

As long there is some sort of threat in the game, I think it would work great, therefore, I look forward to see it in-game!

It's not really that hard though, once you figure it out. Kinda like playing with Legos really.

RE: Need opinion
I wouldn't mind anything like that at all, if pulled off well you can make it seem very suspicious, as if you're being lured into a trap for example?
