like i said up just this one guy brings me in rage. you other guys can give feed back like you want.
and i will read it and try to give me best to fix it and its nice that you guys give us some stuff to fix
so that this will be even better thx for the report.

you remember that tunnel where you get the water from ? normali you get a quest when you go in there that the piston what you fixed stops the water. so just go back there and the water will be gone.

Finished this today, really enjoyed it. The story didn't do much for me, (mostly because I couldn't follow it) but the atmosphere and mapping were probably the best I've seen in an FC yet. My two biggest complaints were that I got stuck frequently with little to guide me on how to get un-stuck, and the female voice actor wasn't very good.

Having an odd glitch...

I went to the castle to put the meat on the blood by the door, but instead there's a piece of hovering meat that I can't interact with up against the door. The door won't open either, and I'm not sure how I can progress. I recently updated the game and it seems like it worked fine until now. :/

a monster shall spawn and you need to lure him to the meat then hes gonna destroy the door normaly.

A lot of people are complaining about the Story in this mod, and I can
see what they're saying, when there are mods with FANTASTIC stories out
there, take White Night for example. The mod (as said by Tanshaydar) was
said to focus more on atmosphere and story, while this mod focuses
equally on atmosphere but particularly on the horror elements, with
story taking a back-seat.


In that sense, I think Tenebris Lake succeeds in what it sets out to accomplish
(please judge the story from patch 1.1, the original release used an old
lang file and left out some stuff) This is just my biased opinion.


If anyone has finished the mod and still wants to learn what exactly
happened, I'll try and lay out the story from my understanding.

This basically sums up the backstory/beginning of the mod:

1. You play as Edward, a man who (for now) can remember nothing (shock) and is around 40 years old. You don't know what year it is.

2. You awake sitting on a dock and after examining the cabin by the lake and seeing a picture with himself in it, he becomes committed to the idea that the other people in the photo are his family.

3. Seeing that the cabin is trashed and appears long empty, Edward is convinced something bad has happened to them and that the only lead he has about his past are the people in the photo, so he decides to pursue them. Having no idea where to go, he takes the path leading to the closest building.



This about sums up what you know until about the point that the player enters the Dungeon. Through flashbacks and the occasional note, the player learns a few key things.

1. He used to have some kind of job with the owners of the castle that forced him to commit atrocities.

2. The castle keeps prisoners (the chained, masked guys), slaves that are forced to work in the mines, and that Edward has discovered a new way to torture his victims: Exposing them to Acidum Aqua (the cause of the burned bodies in the Morgue)

3. Leonard (the other man from the flashbacks) has noticed Edward's strange behavior and has removed his family from their lakeside home and taken them captive somewhere in the castle.

4. Finally, towards the end of the story, you learn that Edward, much like Daniel, just recently drank some kind of Amnesia potion because he couldn't deal with the guilt of the things he'd done.


Thus, at the end of the story, the player is left to choose whether to save his wife, his children, or leave behind his supposed family altogether (as he has little memory of them, other than the flashbacks and the note he finds)



Anyway, that's just my interpretation of the story.

Speaking for myself, it didn't do any of this for me. The atmosphere was ruined by the lighting and confusing mapping.
Whilst atmosphere is important it will not take you anywhere without a purpose.

I though the entire purpose of a ''custom story'' was that they were intended to tell stories.

Yup! From Tenebris Lake to Pony Maps to White Night to Pewdiepie Stories. Everyone is entitled to tell their own story, so long as they are open to (constructive) criticism.



To the people leaving feedback: Saying something like "You should consider adding a note in X that says Y to help the player better understand Z" is so much more helpful than "The voice acting sucks and the story makes no sense." (see mod DB for plenty of the latter, heh)
