Horror games as good as Amnesia?

When me and my friends played Amnesia, it was the best horror game we'd ever seen. After completing it, it's as if there's a hole now. Every other horror games seems lame compared to Amnesia.

What are some good psychological horror games similar to Amnesia?

Play the penumbra series, other than that, nothing can really even attempt to match Amnesia as of yet.

I wouldn't call this game a horror game, it is more of a psychological thriller kinda thing: Indigo Prophecy, also known as Fahrenheit. It's a great game and I highly recommend it

there are a few short flash games out there too:

-Exmortis 1

-Exmortis 2

-Exmortis 3 (you need to pay, unless you wanna play a trial without any events at all)

there are also a few you can download:

and lots other; but most of them have either guns or some other form of defense

The one other horror game I couldn't stop playing is "Cry of Fear".
It's a mod for "Half life"
Cry of Fear is a huge conversion for Half life.

Cry of Fear's good, but I wouldn't put it on the same level as Amnesia.

Try SCP-087 though, that's probably on the same level of scary as Amnesia was for me. The other two in that series kind of suck though.

never really tried any special horror games except Amnesia. Stalker has a dark and scary atmosphere but its really not focused into scaring you.

I've heard a lot of talk about Silent Hill but i never tried that game so cant say anything.

Thief: The Dark Project is still among the scariest games ever made (and it isn't even explicitly a horror game!) and is also the best stealth game ever and has some of the best writing, level design and sound design ever in a game. The controls take some time getting used to (not sure how the Thief Gold controls are; maybe they are more like Thief II's- however take note that the new levels added in Thief Gold are controversial with fans. Some of them are not as well designed as the original levels and feel like padding in an already very long game) but once you do you will realize how perfect they are.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is also really disturbing. It isn't scary like Amnesia is with you trying desperately to survive (granted some of the fights are brutally difficult); it just has a lot of really unsettling themes and disturbing imagery that really builds quite a scary atmosphere. It's pretty buggy unfortunately but so worth the playthrough.
