What would be "Proper Jumpscares?"
Ok, so I saw a post today about jumpscares. All the newbies do it first. I've had my fair share of it.
But what types of jumpscares are "new" or appropriate and are not considered "cheap" or frowned upon?
The reason why I have this in development support if because I want to hear from people who do script things and probably know what they are doing
I really want to hear from the community on this one.

So long as it has an explanation and is relevant to the story, that's all there really is to it.
I rate it 3 memes.

Yeah now that I think about it, there isn't really all that much you can do. You got your standard naked guys (sigh) poofers up close, and just random pops.
I've never really seen jump relevant to the story. There must be a good CS that has one. I remember "Wake" I think had a naked guy, but, it was fall down a light source like Icarus or something.
Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting. I want to see if more post.

The most prominent example I can think of, would be from the creators themselves. Look at their teaser.

Just let it make sense, and make only 1 or 2 of them... If people keep jumping (like me) no matter how much those guys come and eats your face, then they might stop playing the CS.
Trying is the first step to success.

Once built up, then its time for a jump. I agree.

Having build defeats the purpose of a jumpscare, if you're expecting something to happen it really takes away from it. Jumpscares shouldn't have build up. Build up is best for traditional events and scares.
