I think I'll just leave this here. I got back from my second, and surprisingly a third viewing of Equestria Girls, and I'm going to update my thoughts on it a bit:
Many of my prime concerns/complaints with the movie still stand even after the third viewing, but after adjusting my mindset when going in for the additional views I can still conclude that the movie is still
fun.
It's not a good movie, but if you adjust your mindset, and expectations when going to see this movie it can actually be fun mostly because of the reasons that MLP is so fun in the first place: the Mane 6's interesting character traits, fluid animations, and catchy songs.
I guess the reason I disliked it so much in my first viewing is that I was trying to rank it up with expectations that it never quite hit, mostly because it was a theatrical release when in reality the stakes, and weight of the plot don't
feel ( <---Keyword) that much heavier than a typical episode. I went in expecting something more "movie-like" if that makes sense.
So does this excuse the movie for being sub-standard? No, it does not. But still just saying that if you allow yourself to do it, you will have fun if you try to.
The romantic subplot can still go to hell though. I hated every second of it
I also picked up on the fact that there IS a Twilight living in this dimension as well. Assuming the destiny of the Mane 6's "bonds" also play out in this world like in Ponyville it would be super awkward if the other Mane 5 finally meet up with Twilight, and she has no idea who they all are yet.
