RE: Hi,

You need at least 10 months of practice before releasing a Custom Story.

Lies. If someone releases their first bad custom story and actually listens to constructive criticism, it can help them advance much faster. Sadly, many people just say "lolidk I maek mapz for PDP!1!!" or something like that. Also, people naturally learn at different rates and excel at certain aspects of the modding process (i.e. mapping, scripting, or story creation).

I think somewhere Anxt said that Abduction was his first mod and that he just actually took his time with it. The mapping or events aren't really close to the original game, yet it is considered to be one of the best mods out there.

I'd also like to point out that a thread like this can be a botting technique; seeing how many people respond to see if it's worth spamming advertisements. I'll give OP the benefit of the doubt in this case, but many people don't normally make a thread to introduce themselves.

I rate it 3 memes.

RE: Hi,

^

It took me 4 months to learn everything with HPL2. And guess what, 3 weeks later, I released "Haunted Hallways", which right now has 43 votes (8).

That was the first CS I made and I consider it a success.

Infrequently active. Don't expect an immediate response. Best to contact me at a different locale. If I create a thread, expect me to be quite active.

I wouldn't go giving him the wrong idea... Some people are more edgy than others, but no one is going to go off on a newbie.

Knowing how to use HPL2 =/= knowing how to use HPL2 well. If you really need proof...

First version of this map when I had about 2 months of experience:

Second version of this map when I had about 8 months of experience:
Spoiler below!

(and it's gone through a lot of changes since that screenshot was taken, this is just to give you a rough idea of how much it improved)

I don't think you really need more proof then that. I'm gonna have to go with Cornithian on this one, yes it's different for everyone, but I'd say the minimum amount of experience you'd need to make a proper custom story is about 5 months (and that's only if you're practicing all the time). There are a LOT of skills and tricks I've picked up over time just by messing around with the engine, almost all of which I was never able to find on the wiki or other tutorials that were posted here, or if they were included in them they sunk so far down that nobody would see them again.

ALSO http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thr...#pid169172 I think it's safe to say it's a spam bot.
