RE: Riddles, brain puzzles and mathematical problems

The box has a locking ring which is more than large enough to have a lock attached. But your friend does not have the key to any lock that you have. How do you do it? Note that you cannot send a key in an unlocked box, since it might be copied.
NOTE: Your friend is intelligent and can understand your plan even if you can't communicate.
Use a lock with the code, then send a separate letter with clues to the combination code.
Or can we not do that? o:

RE: Riddles, brain puzzles and mathematical problems
Send the object inside the locked box and since he knows your plan anyways he would know to smash the box apart with a hammer and retreive the object. Or saw it open or something.
Or maybe I'm just throwing wild ideas around, I thought it was pretty clever.

Yes. You have to protect it with a lock, but then your friend doesn't have the key to unlock it. How do you do it?
Pick it. With a lockpick.

RE: Riddles, brain puzzles and mathematical problems
No, no and no.
-If you send a seperate letter with the code then anyone can read it and open the box.
-The box can't be smashed. (Even if it could then anyone could smash it, so it would not be effective)
-It can't be lockpicked. (Again even if it could then anyone could lockpick it, so there would be no point)

RE: Riddles, brain puzzles and mathematical problems
Darn :\ Hmmm... this probably won't work, but can we ask the friend to send us a lock for the box?
They'd have the key already and no one else could open it without a lockpick

You are close. How is your friend going to send you the lock without it being stolen?

He would hide it probably in his shirt, go to the place and give the lock.

If he could just come to you and give you the lock then what would be the point? You could give him the valuable item easily.

Oh! Uhm, hmm....
Is there room for more than one lock on this box?
