Custom item white squarre

I took the rotten_apple.ent and made it an item.
I found a picture, made it a .tga and used the magic wand tool in gimp to delete the background.
Though when i highlight the item in my inventory, a white squarre surrounds the item.
It makes perfect sense since that's how the picture is supposed to be highlighted.
But how do i remove it?

Just create a new empty layer and export it again if you're bent on using TGA.

I'm not sure what you mean. An extra layer, in front of the one with picture?
It's my first try on .tga
