RE: Amnesia Story Idea(s) Thread

Got an idea while i was showering.

The Idea:
It starts out like most custom stories (I know I know,
that's probably not good then, but try read what I wrote)

You wake up in a cell.
The door is locked, and it seems like there's nobody around.
There should be one or two ways to do this, but somehow you
make a loud sound. (Break a bottle or something like that).
A voice comes from the pipe in the wall.
"Hey man. Are you awake?".
You don't recognize the voice, but since you've got nothing
else to do, you listen.
(I won't make the player say anything. I think that will
make it much better)
"Listen. We don't have much time before it happens. You
probably won't trust me, but do you have anything in your cell that could
possibly help me out of my cell?"
The player slides an object inside the pipe.
Noises, that sounds like he breaks a door open.
"Ok, I'll lock you out now. If you can make it, meet me
at the next pipe."
The player runs through some corridors, and ends up in a
rooms with a new pipe.

So that is mostly how the story will go.
You solve puzzles with help from somebody you don't know who
are, but you are both breaking out from this place.

You are supposed to start one giant machine. What you don’t
know is that it’s a time machine.
The other guy sometimes mentions something about changing what has already happened, and that it should never have happened.

When you get to the final point where you have to start the
machine, your friend says: ”So this is
it. From this point only one of us can continue. Thank you for your help. I will
always remember you.”

And you will somehow end up in a cell. You hear a crash from
the other cell through a pipe. A guy says: ”Is there anybody in here?”, and he
starts talking.

Basicly what happens is that you are now the other guy.
Helping yourself, and you will see the story from a whole new perspective.

Trying is the first step to success.

That's an awesome idea BeeKayK! You could work in some really interesting puzzles that way, particularly giving the player clues about how to solve the second set of puzzles (when you are the 'other guy') by what he tells you the first time round.
One in particular, there could be a point where the player is trapped having to wait for the other guy to do something before you can progress, for say 1 minute, you could have an incredibly tense moment where someone is coming towards the player and there is nothing that they can do - kinda predictable that the player will be saved at the last moment - but then when the player is the other guy, you have 1 minute to find the thing that will save the first guy, failing to do so means he dies and, since the first guy is in fact you, you then cease to exist.

Gotta love closed-circle time lines

Yes! And the time thing if first being showed later in the story, which makes a great twist

BeeKayK, I must say I'm very impressed, that concept could play so well, offering: puzzles that present themselves in a similar but otherwise interesting sense; thought invoking through suspicion, not knowing who this person is or what they're seeking to achieve; later on when you do take the other perspective one might fit all kinds of shocking points of interest.

Yea!!!
And when you come to the point where you have to let the other guy get trapped while you use the time machine... The point where you know you have to, but you don't want to

10/10 would play a game built around the concept.

It could even use addition where in the end when you are playing the other person. It turns out the first person player plays was actually a Grunt with a normal hand (Holding or attached as part of him.) Could even be "friendly" Grunt.
