I'm currently doing a Let's Play of this, and I have to say, this is getting REALLY good! Currently uploading the part at the basement where the girl says you can run but you can't hide.

I was trying to avoid asking for help, but I just can't figure something out.

Spoiler below!

I was pushed to the bottom of the elevator shaft and once that event was over I was in a completely pitch black area except for a shiny object ahead and flames behind. If I go towards the shiny object I am always killed by the monster that spawns (which I cannot see).

No matter how much time I spend in this area I can never find a way out because except for the two objects mentioned above I can't actually see anything. Is this some kind of bug or am I not seeing something obvious.

I've played through a bit of this, and it's great so far. Some of the best designed environments I've seen in Amnesia, particularly the outdoor sequences.

Alright yeah, I'm going to have to look through this, seems to be quite a few stolen models in this download.

That's mainly cause people have come to expect it from certain people as it's happened with them multiple times in the past, so people expect that they'd have pirated content and because of that check to see if it did. In cases like this I don't think this guy has had any problems with pirated content in the past so most people aren't going to take the time to check. With that said though I will say a lot of people are unfair when it comes to reporting that sort of stuff depending on the user.
