Custom models folders

Hey there

I searched very hard for an answer of this question, i didnt found anything.

Im working on a cs with custom made entities, static_objects, music...

so where must I put these things in?
I tried to make folders in the original entities folder like "Entities for my map"
but if i did that, the game crashed when i load other maps without there entities.

Do I only have to put these folders like entities into the folder of my custom story?

Thx for reading

Knusper.

No one knows, how "I" goes.

RE: Custom models folders

Yes, make folders for each thing e.g. Entities folder inside your custom story's folder.

RE: Custom models folders

ok, thx.
And what if i want to use my own latern?
Does that work If i only put a folder with the models into the cs folder?

And in each folder, e.g. entities, must there be all entities or only the ones I made myself?

No one knows, how "I" goes.

RE: Custom models folders

For the entities, just the custom ones that aren't from the original game or from Justine. And as for the lantern, you will need to create a full conversion mod to use your own one.

I'm pretty sure that if you want to use a custom lantern, then you need to make a full conversion, but don't quote me on this.

You only need to put your custom entities inside the CS_Name/entities folder, not all the ones provided by the game allready.

RE: Custom models folders

ah, ok.

Is it possible, If I and all ones who play the story replace the model folder with my custom latern, too?
Then you will use my latern in the original game, too, but thats not that bad, you can make backups.
And the story will only be played by my best friends.

Is that possible?

(sorry, maybe i could try out that all, but i think like this its faster and safety Smile)

edit:
thx for double answer^^

Yes that is possible. Just replace it and let it have the same name.

Edit: and as you said, make sure that people who play the CS are in on your idea.

I think thats all i needed to know.
will test it.

edit:

Ok, i think it works, but to build the maps with the custom models i need to put them into the original folders, right?

RE: Custom models folders

You can place the "custom assets" in folders within the original assets. Eg. entities/MyModels

then move those folders to custom_stories/nameOfYourStory/entities/MyModels when you decide to "export" your story (share it with your friends).

As for creating full-conversions with a lantern etc.:
http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-19019.html

Refer to the section titled "Full-conversions".
