RE: What was your favorite "weapon" in Overture ?
Petike Wrote:Guyra Wrote:Thief are great games! I wonder, perhaps they'll make a fourth game, with that girl as the main chara, and Garrett as her mentor..? Would've been interesting. ^^
It would. :-) But I think I heard, that part four will be more of a re-telling of the previous trilogy (or something like that)...
It was said in a web article, which source I don't know, that it might be a retelling, but nothing official has been said about that, as far as I know. However, in late 2004, it was official that a fourth Thief game was in preproduction, according to Wikipedia.

Yeah, I know. I also read, that the fourth Thief, that was in pre-pro during 2004, was planned as a massive make-over of the setting - they planned to set the new one in more modern times (something like the 19. or early 20. century) and make it a film-noiresque crime story with mystery and fantasy elements. Garret and some of the other characters would stay, but they would exist as modern alter egos of the original ones - so Garret would be something like a thieving Phil Marlowe... :-DDD But this version never got off the drawing board, it got cancelled soon. Ion Storm is defunct now anyway...
So, the comeback of the series still remains in question. Anyway, I would love the idea, that the little orphan girl from the ending of Deadly Shadows became Garrett's adopted daughter and apprentice and that the fourth Thief game will now focus on her as the new heroine... And Garrett would appear too, but just as an old retired veteran, who would give advice to her occasionaly... It would be funny. :-)

Hm, yeah, I forgot them on purpose - I think they're more of a tactical "weapon" or tool, not something that can be practically used in fighting.

I disagree ! Reasons :
1. You could sweep down tiny objects with it from upper shelves...
2. It worked on spiders ! Well, just scared them away, but it WORKED ! :-D
3. You stopped being scared, because fighting a dog with it was a downright farce ! I found it hilarious... ;-DDD

RE: What was your favorite "weapon" in Overture ?
I just got both Overture and Black Plague two days ago and I don't know how you guys manage to kill the dogs. I always seem to get clobbered by them :/ The hammer is impossible and rocks n' barrels are... Well... I'm never fast enough... Then again, maybe I just suck

I usually fought with the pick axe. When it was neccessary or possible, I threw a box/stone/propane tank/whatever before going in close combat...
With the hammer I somehow never managed to hit the dogs. So I didn's use it... same with the dynamite.
When I met spiders, I simply ran for my life
