Everytime I launch Penumbra i get strange error- that my graphic card doesn't support vertex shaders...
config:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 4x 2,44GHz
GeForce 8800GTX 768MB
4GB Kingston RAM (2x2GB)
750GB HD
Windows XP SP3 (with no SP's didn't work too)

And... PLEASE!!! DON'T TELL ME TO UPDATE GFX DRIVERS!!!
I've tried with older, newer, and the newest drivers (from official site, released at 02.05.2008) and I still have the same error. Damn it, I can play Crysis with full details, but i can't run Penumbra on this machine... Ironic.

Make sure to unistall the drivers you have now, restart the computer and then install the latest.

Penumbra uses OpenGL (and not DirectX like Crysis) and the OpenGL installation might be corrupt or in some other way not correct. That is why you need to be sure to uninstall and reboot before installing drivers again.

Could you copy and paste the content of hpl.log, found in "My Documents/Penumbra/Black Plague/"

Also, does the games Doom 3 or Prey run on your comp (they are both OpenGL games)?

I don't know- I didn't play them.

I re-installed my Windows. It worked! I changed settings, restarted the game and... doesn't work again. I launch it, wait and... NOTHING happens.

oh, last thing- when I changed gfx options, it was ok. But when i turned on EFX (i think), game died. it would be nice to play with that option turned on, cause I have 5.1 speakers. Yay, now I even can't change it... it's getting sweeter... I've got Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty.

Hi anka. Do you have the latest drivers for your X-Fi? If you do, you should delete the settings.cfg file in your 'My documents/Penumbra/Black Plague' folder. That should let you start the game.

Seems you can't turn hardware sound on for some reason. I think it should work with that sound card though, so check your sound drivers (latest stable are dated 14th of march '08).
