"HEY! The game is set in Victorian England; might as well add Jack the Ripper! 'Cause y'know; ENGLAND! huehuehue" <-- That's what I think when reading this whole thread. I haven't been here for a few days so I had some catching up to do.
Sure, a subtle reference is fine, but having him as an NPC is kind of foolish. Subtly is key here, guys. The way you worded it which made the idea sound stupid is being really unfair to the idea as a whole. If they did put it in I'd assume they'd put a hell more thought to the whole thing instead passing it off like "ENGLAND! huehuehue".
Is there a game were Jack the Ripper plays a role? Never played one or heard of any.
Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack The Ripper.
Warning, pixel hunter game.

Am I by the way the only one that's curious about how Oswald will look like or if Thechineseroom shows us more of his appearance then only his arm compared to ATDD? (Or did you all discuss this already?)

I don't think they'll show his face. There are mirrors (well, at least one) but I'm guessing you just won't be able to have a glance in one/it. (They/it break(s) or the area gets blocked or .. something.)
Who knows, though.

By showing us his appearance I actually thought of using artwork or paintings. I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear enough.

I too think that we won't be able to see Oswald's character. Perhaps there will be some painting or portrait of him in the mansion?
But ever since I read this post, the image I had on my mind of Mr. Mandus has been irrevocably conditioned...

Yeah and the only thing you will ever see is Oswald's floating severed arm holding a bulls eye lantern.
