AMNESIA: THE VLASSEN CASE

Hello Guys. Recently I've been working on a new custom story. In order for it to be completed I need a few questions to be answered... and it would be great to hear it from the fans of Amnesia: The Dark Descent! Just reply to the post so I can hear from you!

Question One:
What is more scarier?
A) Dungeons/torture chambers.
B) Ancient tombs
C) Ancient libraries
d) Abandoned archives that go deep underground

Question Two:
What's more atmospheric?
A) Creepy background music
B) The knowledge that you are close to a monster
C) Creepy background sound effects
D) All of the above

Question Three:
Pick what is better inside a custom story:
A) Jump scares
B) Less but at least two or three small jump scares
C) No jump scares AT ALL
D) Having to constantly avoid a monster
E) One or two jumpscares and hiding from monsters.

That's the end of the questions! To reply do something like this:

e.g
Question1 - A)
Question2 - B)
Question3 - C)

RE: [FG] New Conversion Mod

Question 1 - A)
Question 2 - (Mentioned below)
Question 3 - (Mentioned below)
---
Q2 - I would prefer music, sound, lighting and all that stuff. You don't need a monster to scare the Player. All you need is just some music and sound effects.
---
Q3 - No jumpscares. Jumpscares are the kind of one where s**t just appear to you to just scare you. Sound and music alone can scare you, even without monsters or jumpscares.

"I came, I saw, I conquered."

All of them can be terrifying if you use the atmosphere right. For natural creepiness though, I would go with A or B

A and C - they're capable of building suspense and are relatively easier to pull off than creating tension with monsters (mainly because the monsters aren't as scary to experienced modders)

Jump scares in context are okay. This discussion has been held on the forum a bajillion times and, from what I gather, screaming, flying, naked men are not, I repeat, are not okay. If you have something in context - explosion created by player causes rocks/bricks to fall from the ceiling at random intervals, for example - then it's alright.

None of the above are ideal scares because they don't build tension or suspense.

I know that's not how you wanted me to answer, but hopefully it helps~!

Well, it's all a matter of implementation. It doesn't really matter which environment you choose - or will you go with disturbing background music/monsters/sounds etc. or not - if it's not properly implemented.

Perhaps you should go with something that you think causes the most fear and dread, if that's your goal. I think it's easier to realize a vision of your own, so you know exactly what feel and atmosphere you want to achieve.
