For example, the GPU in an XBONE is equivalent to my own Radeon HD 4890 from April 2009! Now there is no way in hell I will be able to play The Witcher 3 on any sort of high level settings. But somehow I can see the XBONE and PS4 (PS4 has a better GPU I know), managing to somehow pull off settings which are presentable. Must be optimization or something because I have no idea how they do it time and time again.
Let's think of it this way, X360 GPU is an euivalent of Radeon X1900 or so, which wouldnt run witcher 2 at all. Yet they mangaged to port witcher 2 to x360. It's all about optimizing specifically for one system what does wonders.
TW3 will only run in 720p at the XBone, and in 900p at the PS4 to make 30 fps possible. Both consoles have a graphics chip that's similar to a Radeon HD 7670 or something. That means not very powerful. But what do you expect for a 400$ console?
To play this game in 1080p or even larger (maybe 4K) you need a very, I mean VERY good graphics card.
I'm at the way to get a GTX 780, because there are 4 good games coming out in a row:
Risen 3, Project CARS, The Witcher 3 and SOMA.

The resolutions for consoles are still not set on stone, last time CD projekt RED commented on that matter they said they were still working on optimizing the game for consoles.
The new consoles are a quite huge step up compared to last generation and they will be able to stand their ground for a few years until they become "outdated". But even then, how does resolution and graphics matter ? The more people that get to play this game, the better. You don't need to whip out $1000 dollars at a computer to enjoy it.

The Witcher 1 was pretty badly optimized if I remember correctly, it still runs a bit slow on my computer but I could run The Witcher 2 on above medium setting pretty fluidly.
Yes, it's beautiful and this is just the XBone version. You can be sure on the PC it looks even a lot better.
The only thing I dislike are the cut-scenes, where you suddenly see Geralt from a different perspective doing some things. The best example is where he draw his sword to kill the monster. It will everytime rip you out of the control. I also dislike the combat camera zoom-out. Looks more like a hack n' slay RPG there.
I hope that this could be fixed by mods.
But a very beautiful designed open world.

Yeah the cutscenes remind me of QTE's, buuuuuut the griffin is a trophy boss so I assume this will only happen when you kill a trophy boss, as a way of making the kill more badass i'm actually ok with it.

I'm sure that the griffin cutscene was made solely for the E3 demo. I mean they had only few minutes of time and needed some epic and badass way to end the demo. Imagine if you were playing the game and then suddenly pulled into cutscene and then teleported to the city. Not gonna happen in final game.
And they still got plenty of time to polish the combat and other things so I wouldn't worry about that. I also like how Geralt is faster and more agile now, just like in the books
EDIT: NEW GAMEPLAY

This game will flood you with quests and explorations. Seems it takes a very VERY long time to see everything. The world is beautiful, but a bit too colorized. But I'm sure there are also murky locations.
