With all due respect... Do you realize how much effort needs to be put in to actually produce a really well-designed game? From what I know, the development time for AMFP has been just less than 2 years, which is very standard for most games. In fact, most games from bigger companies in the industry take around 3-4 years to develop their more popular titles. Note that these AAA studios also have larger budgets as well as larger teams, so a lot more can be done in a shorter amount of time.
These guys are indie developers, and outside of one mod, this was The Chinese Room's first attempt at a true horror game. A lot of pressure would have been placed on them to deliver something fresh while also keeping true to the roots of Amnesia.
I just find it truly disheartening at how oblivious consumers are to the hard work that goes into developing games. It involves so many different fields and attention to detail, yet people act like it's easy to create them. I see so much hate towards game developers these days for delivering something SLIGHTLY different than what they expected. Meh, as someone who has had some real experience with developing both games and full-fledged mods, I get really pissed off at a lot of whining aimed towards devs.
