Please don't remind me of the Resident Evil 5 fiasco...

Even through OP's point is so weak.
I have to admit that I'm really tired of male characters in Frictional games.
They never consider their girlfriends, wives, daughters or sisters in any meaningful ways.
In a horror game, it could be great materials, so don't to be afraid of writing female roles.

I've just registered to tell you what you've said is the most stupid statement I've ever read.
A persons gender does not at all mean anything. The game is fine, being female doesn't mean anything, the story is about a man, pure and simple.
Thanks for giving me a reason to join this forum, though. I've been lurking since Amnesia's first game.

How dare you make something more original and cater for the less important 40% of gamers! GOSH!!
All joking aside, you got me excited for this CS.

Portal 2 is a racist game. It has robots as protagonists in co-op mode and as a human being I feel very offended! Notice the sarcasm.
In other words, I personally have far superior stuff to think about than some video game character being same sex, color or species than I am. If the worst thing in someone's life is about the protagonist in a video game, then I'd say that the person's life, in fact, is in pretty good state.

Geez! chill out man! Not because there's a female protagonist but because he is making an effort to have a female protagonist in a CS which (so far) I havn't seen in a CS. Which means he might try something new. I'm always looking out for CS that have fresh new ideas

The Simpsons is also blatantly racist. Do you notice how all of the "white" people are yellow, but any non-white ethnicity is represented in their real-world colour? Matt Groening thinks black people and Asians are funny enough as they are, apparently. Friggin' disgraceful.

But in all honesty, who gives a damn what gender, race or religion the lead role portrays? In my opinion, it should be a male anyway if the game revolves around horror as we all know woman are more reluctant to be frightened and are weaker than men and these games are based on survival. Not sexism, fact - let the flamewar begin!
