For horror I'd recommend Mama (Which isn't great, but still good), and the Thai film "Coming Soon".

Cabin in the Woods is really good, but isn't so much horror as it is one huge cluster of mind boggle.

Mama pissed me off.

Started out really good and had great potential but somewhere near the end it lost its way and it was just plain bad.

Well Cabin in the Woods went to shit in mid film and Coming Soon was terrifying. Spend a few years with that film burned into my mind.
